Kevin Goles, DDS

Dimplomate, ABDSM

Dr. Kevin Goles is recognized as the most experienced clinician in the world in non-surgical adult airway expansion and comprehensive airway-centered dental treatment, with more than 6,000 completed adult expansion cases and decades of focused clinical experience in sleep disordered breathing and physiologic airway correction.

Since the start of his career, Dr. Goles has focused on identifying and correcting the structural and functional root causes of airway disease. During his residency, he conducted research on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and its systemic health consequences, which led him to pursue and develop physiologic airway correction protocols focused on craniofacial development and root-cause treatment rather than symptom-management-only models.

Dr. Goles is a Founder of Toothpillow, one of the most recognized functional appliance systems designed to support airway development, tongue posture, and functional breathing patterns. He has been deeply involved in the clinical development and evolution of modern non-surgical airway expansion protocols, helping shape treatment models that integrate skeletal expansion, neuromuscular re-education, functional breathing rehabilitation, and long-term stability planning — creating predictable, reproducible airway outcomes across a wide range of adult and pediatric patients.

He previously served as a Key Opinion Leader and clinical leader within Candid’s airway-focused aligner initiatives. He has since transitioned to helping lead the development and launch of Smile Shapers, a next-generation clear aligner and airway integration platform designed specifically for expansion-driven, airway-first orthodontic treatment. While Smile Shapers is currently in early launch, it is being built on decades of clinical experience, high case volume, and real-world airway treatment outcomes — with the goal of becoming the most advanced airway-focused aligner and expansion integration system in the world.

Dr. Goles is also internationally recognized for his work with laser-assisted airway and TMJ therapies. As a Clinical Instructor for Fotona Medical Lasers, he has completed thousands of NightLase procedures and trains dentists globally on laser airway protocols and integration into comprehensive airway treatment models.

He is an Ambassador for The Breathe Institute, focusing on myofunctional therapy integration, tongue function, and orofacial muscle patterning to support long-term airway stability following structural correction.

Dr. Goles is a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep and Breathing and continues to train dentists internationally on comprehensive airway diagnosis, treatment sequencing, and real-world clinical implementation.

Dr. Goles earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Joint Base Lewis-McChord while serving in the United States Army.
